FAQ

What are the underlying materials of sheathed heaters?

2024-Jan-01

Common sheathed heaters primarily consist of metal enclosures made of copper, iron, and stainless steel, etc. Copper sheathed heaters are relatively common in households. Commercial copper is mainly used for heating water and is known for its strength of being low in cost, while its weakness is that verdigris tends to form and cannot withstand a high temperature. An iron sheathed heater is often used for heating oil and air. It, however, cannot be used for heating water as it gets rusty relatively easily and has a relatively short life span when used to heat water. Stainless steel is a preferred choice as it comes in different grades that are reflective of the use environment and the operating temperature. This is why stainless steel heaters are widely used on the market.
